Tips for making sewing easier & more efficient:
The Do's & Don'ts of Sewing
DO Press all of your seams

DO Keep your work area clean

DO Read as much about the fiber content of fabrics before you buy them Sew a garment without pre-washing the fabric

DO have good lighting where you work to prevent eye strain Never leave a torchiere lamp unattended as they can be a fire hazard if placed too close to curtains or walls.

DO Measure twice, cut once

DO Keep your scissors sharp

DO Separate your sewing tools (such as tape measures and scissors) from other household tools so they don't get ruined or worn out

DON'T Iron velvet without a special velvet bristle board

DON'T Leave cords in a high traffic area, especially iron cords

DON'T Blow air into your sewing machine to clean it; it can clog it up by forcing particles into the gears

DON'T Let scraps pile up; throw them out, recycle them, or sell them on eBay to quilters
